Why would the addition of the word “the” into your domain make any difference to rankings? What makes the difference for one site ranking against another in the SERPs is the content on the site, how well it’s optimized for the search query, the number of incoming links it has, the age of the domain and many, many other factors.
The addition or subtraction of a keyword from the domain has very little, if any, impact on the site’s ultimate ranking. You might want to review my other posts about domains and SEO to clarify things.
Perhaps it would have been a better question if you were asked – whats better?

In terms of ease to rank off the bat
I find it uncanny that may page one Google SERPS ar esites that also include THE KY in the URL, or as the url entirely.
I know there are many many factors, but these KWs in the URL are bolded and these sites are reanked highly.
I also realize there are examples of the opposite.
To me, it’s one of those “it definitaly can’t hurt” things so why not use it. Maybe some day it will matter. Or maybe it matters a lot in really competitive situations.
Who knows what The Google is going to do.
