		<description>I think what Jan may have meant was free-hosted sites such as sitename.verizon.net. While Google certainly does index sub-domain based or free hosted sites, it can be more difficult to achieve the indexing depth that a stand-alone hosted site will enjoy. Also, all the link popularity and PageRank from the hosted site contributes to the host site (in this case Verizon.net) when it could be contributing to the site&#039;s own domain if it were a stand-alone hosted site.</description>

It will stop &quot;link juice&quot; from being passed - i.e. effectively saying that you are not offering a &quot;vote of confidence&quot; by linking to that site, but will have no impact whatsoever on whether the site gets indexed or not.</description>
